Reception
Reception is another important consideration because it’s largely affected by location. Certain providers may have better reception in your area than others. There’s also a huge difference between satellite and cable reception. A satellite signal is more fragile than a cable connection and can be affected by wind and rain. However, signal loss is typically temporary and brief. Cable is a bit more reliable but if you do loose signal it is usually due to a more serious issue like a downed line and may take a while to repair.

If you are in the market for more than just television service, some providers offer several ways to bundle your TV service with other services like phone and internet. Even if you didn’t plan on shopping for the other two, you may want to check to see if you can save by bundling.
Contracts
Satellite and some cable companies require customers to sign contracts which can be an inconvenience, especially if you want to cancel their service early. Typically, cable services only require contracts if you sign up for a special service or package.
